Another day, a different touch screen camera. The Canon PowerShot ELPH 500 HS was rolled out beginning of February – over time if we go, that a fair – with a label of “HS” and used a large 3.2 inch touch screen. The HS stands for high sensitivity. Translated by Canon eye, that is to say the ELPH has 500 a back illuminated CMOS sensor (12.1 mega pixels in this case) and a DIGIC 4 processor. We saw after first this technology in the PowerShot SD4000 with several models since then.

Canon boasts that the HS system will produce better pictures in low light with less of the grain, which is often ISO captured in photos at high and less blur in subdued light of slow shutter speeds. A maximum aperture at wide angle of f/2, which allows the use of faster shutter speeds offers the 500 HS.

The Canon 500 HS has with 1080 HD video recording, 4.4 x optical zoom lens, optical image stabilization and shutter/aperture modes schießende priority. There is no full manual exposure mode. Canon adds “toy camera” and “Monochrome” an ever growing list of creative scene modes for the users available.

Our review unit is a pearly pink. I recommend using the included wrist strap – the sides of the camera are slightly rounded, and it is very easy to fall. There is a slight Ridge on the right side of the back wall, but the plastic shell is smooth and a risky statement is recorded with one hand the docking.
It is an on / off button, shoot mode dial and shutter release to the top pane. The back has only one button for image review and a whole range of LCD. There are a two-colour treatment on winding outside shadow on the top and back of the camera body, light pink. The camera itself is somewhat heavy for their size.
