After some time a few weeks to compare, even going to different stores and testing of the Asus, Acer, Toshiba and Sony laptops, I finally decided on this little laptop that my choice of cheap ultraportables, and I am very happy to General U350 (hence the score of five stars).

The Asus machine (U20, U30 and U80) with a comparable processor and other options were very nice and I came close to buying one, but they came to at least $ 150 – $ 300 more for similar specifications, but was still no HDMI port like this. (Of course, you get the Asus warranty, I would say is worth another $ 100.) Acer equivalent parts are generally a good deal, but still came in $ 50-100 or more a 1.3 megapixel camera.

This model of the U350 has options media card and wireless card N, but no Bluetooth (which you can get for $ 142 more if you buy directly from Lenovo). Bluetooth is not that important to me and the $ 507 price tag for this machine from Amazon is the best buy for the buck, by far, in my humble opinion. The U4100 1.3 GHz processor family of Pentium and specification of the Intel Web site has two cores, but not the dual core family.

It is not rocket fast, but no transformers ultra-low voltage. Battery life is what is reported, about five hours of what I could check in two days of use. I do not know how Asus and Acer have their machines 9-12 hours to cope with almost the same elements may be less lighting, power management, etc.

The screen comes on that machine is excellent throughout the life of the battery, but if you need nine hours of time without a power source, go with Asus or Acer, I think, and pay the extra money and get something else specific considerations. Regarding the complaints from other reviews here a case where the cheap plastic lids break, I would say if you’re part of the force in such cases, whether made by Toshiba, Asus, Acer or anyone else, it will break.

Thank you for the warning, however. After seeing the other machines in the first-hand computer shops, my assessment is that the type most widely similar lightweight plastic enclosures, so unless you’re a MacBook Pro and pay $ 1,149 for the model aluminum, it is actually what you get. I think the Acer has an aluminum top, but there are complaints about the adjustment under review here.

The brushed aluminum look on the wrist for this model U350 is truly greater than the model to cover because you have no fingerprints of the two, which is very nice with all the loving “fingerprint” there. The mouse pad and click the right and left buttons seem a bit lower, and almost certainly a half star, but for this price you just the fact that you will not get perfection in the face.

I bought the 3 year warranty against accidental damage Square Deal for three years (it is classified five stars and two more full years of warranty against accidental damage warranty Asus) covers. This is far from Amazon and I am very satisfied with their service (at the deliveries in good condition). I know some other low-end ultraportables are large transactions, but if you are looking for a machine that is more than a netbook for a little more in price, the Lenovo U350 is well worth considering seriously.

After a week UPDATE – Five Star

Still very happy with this little laptop, and I see the price dropped to $ 8 for under $ 500. I went through Staples today to pick up supplies and discussed the latest HP DM3 they sell for $ 649 and it is exactly the same structure in terms of lightweight, durable plastic housing (ASUS was also roughly the same). I got more used to the touchpad and buttons and they same thing the same quality as Asus and HP models at Staples.

I also noticed that my daughter-in-Law’s Dell about the same quality and the buttons of the touchpad. I’m still five hours of battery life as advertised. I am very grateful for the brushed aluminum “look of the wrist, because I did not put up with stains and fingerprints from a shiny black case. The speed of the U4100 1.3 GHz dual core is obviously much more than the Atom processors for netbooks and Celeron processors, and as I said earlier, it is in the family and Pentium processor is an Ultralow voltage, although not specifically mentioned in the Family ” Dual-core (but it has a dual core – Intel specs look and it seems that there are two processor cores, such as dual core processors).
