Palm, the legendary maker Palm is highly in demand in the days before Windows Mobile, Symbian triumphant and long before the iPhone became the buzz is now back with the Palm Pre and webOS operating system, two combinations are championed as the iPhone killer.

At CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Las Vegas 2009, Palm introduced the Palm WebOS operating system that made the original Palm operating system that previously had Nova code.

Palm Pre will be launched as a product of the American mobile operator Sprint is equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3.1 inch screen, GPS and 8GB storage capacity and a 3-megapixel camera.

Unlike the iPhone, Palm Pre dilengkap sliding physical keyboard as well as the background for the application notification system.

The advantages of this is the Palm Pre is Palm WebOS operating system:

Web-based OS made launcer dock where you can scroll through the rows of the application with your finger and run the application you want to touch.

Movement of objects on the screen is made to be smooth and you can do multi-tasking (many applications simultaneously) and run it like icon.
The web browser on the Palm Pre also take full advantage of multi-touch screen facility for page navigation and zooming.

Palm webOS applications are made with Mojo, application framework bebasis HTML5, CSS and Javascript are already known to many web developers and the Palm Pre is just one of the first devices to take advantage of this WebOS platform.

WebOS applications can be installed and run directly on the device with native speed and have access to a range of services that exist on the device.

Mojo lets you:

- Build an application with the “gesture-based navigation, Transitions, and scrolling”
- Use the webOS notification system to provide alerts to users without disrupting ongoing activities
- Make use of HTML 5 local storage so that data remains there even though the user is offline (not connected to internet)
- Using JSON message bus to connect to a range of services from devices such as contacts, calendar and location
