The Pentax Optio S1 today makes his debut a shiny small compact with a 5 X optical zoom lens and 720 p HD video capture.

Behind the stylish outer offering S1, a generous 5 x optical zoom lens with a range equivalent to 28-140 mm. sensor-shift SR image stabilization is available, to keep image blur under control. Digital stabilisation is also available to enhance ISO sensitivity in low light conditions.

The Pentax-S1 has a 14-megapixel sensor, 2.7 inch LCD with 230 k-points and in-camera dynamic range control to exposure in high-contrast situations still help. Video recording is available in 1280 x 720 resolution at 30 frames per second. Offers nine digital in-camera filters, including toy camera and retro modes. Face detection, auto picture mode and compatibility with an optional infrared remote control are available to all S1 users.

We had a look at a pre-production S1 back at CES. The camera has a beautiful glass lined look with rounded corners. It felt solid and robust, and the control layout was everything we expect of an Optio.
