Samsung has begun shipping its series 9 11.6-inch ultraportable notebook. The most retail sites including Amazon.com have it priced at $1,159.99 (MSRP $1,199.99).

The 9 Series weighs only 2.31 kg and is a shadow over a half an inch thin. It has a 11.6 inch display, Intel Core i3-380UM dual-core processor, a 64 GB SSD, 2 GB RAM, supposedly well illuminated keyboard and a four cell battery for up to seven hours. Other features include WIMAX 4 G and USB 3.0. The series 9 is as standard with a three-year warranty. The 9 series is the PC competitor of the Apple MacBook Air, with the same size screen and similar dimensions.
